Still Closed

photo_3Update April 25:  Because we are not reopening until the 3rd of May, we will not be able to participate in ArtsGo.  The artists that were going to join us for the event will be at the Brownsburg Library instead.  This will be for Saturady only as the library is NOT open on Friday evening.

Update April 22:  We have been told by the remediation company that they will not be able to turn over the gallery to use until May 3rd. This mean that ArtsGo in a No-Go for us.  We apologize to everyone for this inconvenience.

Original Post:

We are still closed.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

Progress is being made in our gallery, but as usual it is taking longer than we had hoped.  The remediation crew has stripped the ceiling tile out, cleaned out the ventilation system, cleaned all our contents and wiped down the ceiling.  Yet to be completed is painting the walls, replacing the carpet and minor upgrades for electrical compliance, replacing the ceiling tile...

We have been told that it is reasonable to expect this to be completed next week.  To be safe, we are setting May 3, as our reopening date.  We will however host our ArtsGo location as we are committed to our artists.

Even though the facade will take months to rebuild, we will be open well before then.

Framing Prague

CeciliasReactionToday we celebrate our daughter Cecilia's 23rd birthday! Last year for her birthday we framed a print that she had bought during her semester abroad in Italy.  Cecilia had taken a side trip to Prague and brought back two prints the city. One for Laura and one for herself.  Laura's family came from the Czech Republic, where Prague is the capital, so she was very happy to receive such a wonderful gift. CeciliasFrame

Framing prints of scenery from travels is a wonderful way to preserve the memories of the experience. Custom framing them allows you to be expressive with the colors and style of frame to truly complement the work and fit your individual style. Using a fillet, or a smaller frame within the frame adds a little something special. Laura and Cecilia enjoyed picking out the matting, fillet and frame together and Cecilia's expression when she got the finished piece on her birthday was priceless.

Happy Birthday Cecilia. We look forward to framing your diploma when you graduate from Purdue in May!

Closed for two more weeks

Fire_1We have been closed for close to three weeks due to the fire that started at the Mexican restaurant's neon sign.  The facade of our strip mall burned from one end to the other.  Fortunately it was not able to break through into any of the businesses.

The fire's evil spawned twins, smoke damage and soot, were however able to permeate and contaminate much of what we had in the gallery.  We have spent much of this time inventorying our property for insurance purposes, as well as, scheduling restoration work for the fine art we were exhibiting.

Next week, the remediation company will strip our shop bare to clean it out.  This involves replacing ceiling tiles, wiping down the ceiling above them, scrubbing the heating and air conditioning units, painting the walls, replacing the carpet, and on and on.  This is no small task to say the least.

Thankfully they are beginning to rip down the facade, which would have continued to release soot into out shop.  Soot is our main concern going forward as it is full of acid, the nemesis of archival framing.  We pride ourselves on using acid free materials to frame our customer's (your) treasured artifacts.  Soot would have kept us from accepting any work until it was contained and removed from our shop.  That concern will be remedied in the next week or two and we can begin setting our shop back up.

We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.  Your generous offers of help are greatly appreciated by us both.

Finally, we cannot say enough about the artists whose work we exhibit in our gallery.  Your gracious understanding and words of encouragement have meant a lot to us.  Thank you.  We will be back up soon for the Hendricks County ArtsGo and with the 5th Annual Miniature Fine Art Show.
