Kate g. Whipple
I have been painting and drawing ever since I can remember. I have grown up around art and artists. My mom taught me to paint at a very young age. Whatever she did, it worked because I am completely hooked. I have found my passion in art and plan for art to be a part of my life forever.
I have tried many different forms of art, but have focused mainly on painting and drawing. I am currently a senior at Avon High School, and have succeeded in cramming as many art classes into my schedule each year as possible. I try to experience as much as I can artistically because I believe variety is important and that inspiration can come from anything.
My favorite subject matter to paint is portraits and figures. Oil painting and charcoal are my preferred mediums to use. I find portraits and figures challenging and extremely fascinating at the same time. I believe I am able to express feelings and evoke emotion in viewers better through drawings and paintings of people. For me, it is much easier to relate to people rather than objects.
I draw inspiration from nearly everything around me. My favorite sources of inspiration are books. I have always loved to read and books have always had a great impact on my life. The people in my life also give me much inspiration. Movies and music have also had a great effect on my artwork over the years.
I love art of all forms. I love to paint. Art is my future; I will be attending The Water Street Atelier at the Grand Central Academy (GCA for short) in New York City in the fall. I am excited for whatever the future holds for me, as long as it involves oil paint.
